ICYMI: Chatham Borough Fire Department Responds to 350 Calls in 2014
The Chatham Borough fire department reported an increased in calls in 2014 from the previous year.

The Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department reported having responded to 357 calls during 2014, fire officials said.
Chatham Borough Fire Chief Doug Allan said the department reported an increase of 41 calls from the previous year. The 53 member department put in 4,581 man hours of service during 2014, according to a report from NJ.com. Incident responded accounted for nearly 1,500 hours, while the remainder were dedicated to training, meetings, fire prevention activities and other work details, the report said.
The Borough only saw two significant fires in 2014 -- a fire contained to a crawl space in a Sussex Avenue home in February 2014 and a large five car fire on Commerce Street in November, accordint to the report.

Chatham Borough’s fire insurance classification was decreased to a Class 3, from a Class 4, following an inspection from the Insurance Service Office, Inc., in August.
