Low-Flying Helicopter To Check Electrical Lines In Chatham This Month

Routine inspection to last three to four weeks.

CHATHAM – Low-flying, slow-speed helicopters will be hovering over Chatham for parts of January, but there’s no need for residents to worry.

The Comprehensive Visual Inspections, or CVIs, are being conducted by the Haverfield Corporation on the 230kV transmission lines in the Jersey Central Power and Light region. The inspections are expected to take three to four weeks.

The helicopter patrols are slow-speed, close-up, detailed inspections with the helicopters flying approximately 10 miles per hour.

The helicopter will be black with red lettering, MD 500 with registration on the tail numbered N8330P.
