National Night Out Returns To Chatham: See What's Planned
National Night Out celebrations are planned in both Chatham Borough and Township on Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m.
CHATHAM, NJ — The annual National Night Out community event is planned for the first Tuesday in August in both Chatham Borough and the township, police announced.
Police, fire, and other first responders invite the Chatham community to a night of fun that includes free ice cream and swimming, food trucks, a tattoo station, live music and other activities.
Residents can meet members of the Chatham Police Department, Fire Department and Department of Public Works.

National Night Out is an event that aims to improve relationships between neighbors and law enforcement while also restoring a true sense of community. It is intended to provide an opportunity for police and neighbors to work together in a positive setting.
The initiative, which began in 1984, promotes crime prevention activities, community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie.

Admission is free, and it will be held at Memorial Park on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Among the planned festivities are a dunk tank, Plinko, tic-tac-toe, Hoolyball, tiki man and more.
Chatham Township's National Night Out is also planned for the same date and time, with preparations beginning at the Colony Pool.
