The panel instead strongly favored candidates from Essex County and beyond, ahead of Sunday’s full county party endorsement vote in Randolph that could shape the race’s momentum.
   

• Chatham Girls Basketball Offense Gets Ahead of the Defense in Scrimmage Win vs. Villa Walsh; Paone 17 Points Leads Cougars (tapinto.net) — Chatham High’s girls basketball team opened with a strong 59-50 scrimmage win over Villa Walsh, led by co-captain Ava Paone’s 17 points and three steals. Coach Joe Gaba, now with 558 career wins at Chatham, praised the offense but stressed the need for sharper, more consistent defense as the young Cougars prepare for Sunday’s season opener.
