'Ski Rage' Doc Pleads Not Guilty To Hitting Boy In Mouth: Report

Incident occurred Feb. 14 at Mountain Creek Ski Resort in Sussex County.

The Mountain Lakes man accused of hitting a boy in the mouth during an alleged “ski rage” incident in Sussex County on Valentine’s Day pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Samuel Caruthers, 44, entered the plea in Superior Court in Sussex County this week, njherald.com reported. He’s also accused of hitting the alleged victim with his ski pole.

According to the initial police report, Caruthers was skiing with his own child when the alleged victim fell into them on the slopes. At that point, Caruthers allegedly punched the boy in the face and hit him with the end of his ski pole, police said.

When officers arrived at Mountain Creek Ski Resort, the alleged victim was “visibly injured.”
