UPATE: SUV Collides with Bicyclist in Chatham

The vehicle struck the bicyclist shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29.

A bicyclist was struck by an SUV in Chatham yesterday evening, Wednesday, April 29, according to police.

The collision occurred outside the Bean Curd restaurant, located at 275 Main St., shortly at approximately 5:39 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Chatham Borough Police.

Police said the vehicle which struck the bicyclist, a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban SUV driven by Chatham resident Sally Kelly, was turning into the Bean Curd restaurant parking lot when it collided with the man on the bicycle.

The man riding the bicycle, identified only as a 48-year-old Maplewood man, suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet and suffered a leg injury. The man was taken to Morristown Medical Center.

Police report Kelly was issued a summons for careless driving.
