Week In Review: Green, Green, Green

Sustainable Jersey and the Green Fair were on everybody's lips this week.

This week Chathamites were all about green, green, green. Sustainable Jersey, the Green Fair and the removal of trees to make room for sidewalks throughout the Chathams were the major topics people talked about this week. So if you think you missed anything this week, we bring you now the Week In Review:

On Monday, we told you about the completion of the sidewalk installation on Lafayette Avenue. We also told you about the Division of Parks and Forestry's Big Tree Program, which could help save other trees from being cut down in Chatham. We also told you about the Chatham Borough Municipal Pool closing for the summer. Whether the pool will open in 2011 will be up to the voters in November's referendum.

On Tuesday we told you about Whitey Vitale, who rides his horse Heidi to nursing homes and public parks in Chatham and talks to people he meets there. We also brought you a photo gallery of the start of school in Chatham. We also told you about the possibility of a new Business Committee for the Chatham Borough Planning Board, as discussed at the meeting on Sept. 1.

On Thursday we told you about the Environmental Commission's Sept. 8 meeting, where they ironed out the details of Saturday's Green Fair. We also told you about the township winning a $25,000 Sustainable Jersey grant for a composter at Chatham High School. We also brought you a profile of some sponsors of the Green Fair and a sneak peak at some of the treats that will be on display there.
