Woman Struck By Car In Chatham, Hit And Dragged By Another: Cops

Investigation underway as possible criminal charges could be pressed.

CHATHAM, N.J. – A East Hanover woman crossing a Chatham street Monday night is lucky to be alive after she was struck by two separate vehicles, Chatham police said.

At 7:41 p.m. on Jan. 25, police responded to the area of Main Street near the Middle School for a report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival they found the woman, 30, lying in the roadway, police said.

Information provided showed the woman was attempting to cross Main Street with her son, 9, when she was crossing Main Street and was struck by a dark colored Honda Ridgeline truck, police said.

The woman fell to the ground and was subsequently struck by a Toyota Camry heading westbound, and was also dragged approximately 18 feet, police said.

The woman was taken to Morristown Medical Center by the Chatham Emergency Squad and later released. The child was not struck and was uninjured.

The crash is under investigation for potential motor vehicle and possible criminal charges.
