CHERRY HILL, NJ — If you’re like many of your Cherry Hill neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Cherry Hill area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

  1. Cherry Hill Food Pantry: The organization supplies groceries and related social services for families and individuals in need.
  2. Insight Foundation: Focused on humanitarian relief and sustainable development, the Insight Foundation channels resources into projects for urgent needs and longterm growth and resilience.
  3. Camden County Family Support Organization: The CCFSO offers support, education and advocacy to parents of children with emotional and behavioral challenges.
  4. Stand Down of South Jersey: Stand Down assists homeless veterans with shelters, meals, clothing and medical attention.
  5. Multiple Sclerosis Association of America: Headquartered in Cherry Hill, the organization provides resources and support services for the MS community, while funding research to find a cure for the disease.
