Cherry Hill EMT, 53, Dies Unexpectedly

Bill Davis served Cherry Hill as an emergency medical technician for more than 3 decades during his decorated career.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — William "Bill" Davis, an active-duty emergency medical technician with a decorated career in Cherry Hill, died unexpectedly last weekend. He was 53.

Davis worked as an EMT in the township for more than three decades, beginning in 1991 as a per-diem member of Cherry Hill Emergency Medical Services. He joined the Cherry Hill Fire Department in 2003, when the agency took over local EMS services, and became a full-time EMT with the department three years later.

Throughout his career, Davis was rewarded with two unit citations and more than 20 accolades, according to the Cherry Hill Fire Department.

"Bill was an integral part of our EMS career staff whose work ethic and dedication to his duties will be leaving a void in our organization, as well as one in our hearts," the agency said.

Davis was also a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving through Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

Several people who worked with Davis mourned his loss on social media.

"When I started at Cherry Hill Fire Department, Bill was one of the first people I worked with," said Chris Adam. "He made working at a new job enjoyable by asking about my interests and where I had worked previously."

"I've known Bill Davis since I was a child in his Virtua days," wrote Antonyo Davis. "Working with him through my Mt Holly years to working with him at Cherry Hill was always fun. Relating to each other about card collecting was a never ending conversation."
