Does Cherry Hill Have Too Many Red Lights?

If you’re frustrated with the red light situation in Cherry Hill, you are in good company.

While stop lights are one of the necessary evils of commuting, they don’t guarantee safety for pedestrians or cooperation from drivers.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, red-light running is the number one cause of urban crashes. Furthermore in 2013, approximately 127,000 people were injured in red-light related accidents.

Here’s what readers said on social media:

  • “There should be more four-way stop signs at major roads such as East Chapel and Old Orchard, where there are school crossings. These roads are used to cut through, and the speeds are way too high over the posted 25 MPH. Every town around here has them except Cherry Hill, who has one on a road that gets about 10 cars a day, but WaWa is nearby.”
  • “We need a few more stop signs in our neighborhoods! There is an intersection that is also a bus stop I can see from my front door. Not one of the four corners has a stop sign, and there are close calls all the time.”
  • “There should be a light at Pearlcroft and Kresson. That’s a nightmare intersection to turn left.”
