CHERRY HILL, NJ — Fresh off returning a fumble for a touchdown, Jalen Carter delivered a bigger highlight for 10 local children.

The Eagles defensive tackle made a surprise appearance Tuesday at DICK'S Sporting Goods in Cherry Hill. The retailer gave each child a $150 gift card, and Carter served as their shopping consultant.

The children are part of the Olney Eagles — a youth-football program based in North Philadelphia's Olney neighborhood. DICK's Sporting Goods hosted the event as part of its efforts to inspire and enable participation in youth sports.
