Large Police Presence At Cherry Hill Mall Thursday

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A large police presence was reported at the Cherry Hill Mall Thursday afternoon after police received reports of a person with a gun at the mall.

"We are aware of the reports of a person with a gun at the Cherry Hill Mall," police said in a statement on social media. "Due to the nature of the incident there was a large police response. The suspect was apprehended within minutes of police arrival on scene. The suspect was not found to be in possession of a weapon."

"CHP and mall security responded quickly to the incident," a Cherry Hill Mall spokeswoman told Patch in an email. "The suspect was arrested, and no gun was found on his person."

The person is currently being evaluated at an area hospital, a police spokesman told Patch in an email. No further information was immediately available.
