Police Impersonator Grabbed Woman By Neck In Cherry Hill: Police
A woman told Cherry Hill police a man impersonating a cop pulled her over and grabbed her by the neck while she sat in her car.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — Cherry Hill police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who grabbed a woman by the neck while he was impersonating a police officer.
The woman told police that a white Ford van with red and blue LED warning lights in the grill and on the rear doors pulled her over while she was driving on Route 38 just after 1 p.m. on Monday.
A man wearing a blue shirt with the word “POLICE” written across the front approached the driver’s side door of the car, police said. The man reached into the car and grabbed her by the neck before she pulled off and fled the area, police said.

The man is described as a white man in his 30s with dark red or brown hair and a mid-length beard. The white Ford he was driving was caught on surveillance video nearby, and images of the vehicle are attached to this post.

Similar incidents of police impersonators pulling women over were recently reported in Brick and Wall townships. New Jersey State Police released a composite sketch of a man in those incidents, described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, with long red hair pulled back in a ponytail, a red scruffy beard, and tattoos on both arms and the back of his hands. It was unclear if the man in the Cherry Hill incident is the same as the man in the other two, but a Cherry Hill police spokesman told nj.com they are working closely with those departments.
