Retired Police Chief, Firefighter Both Mourned In Cherry Hill

2 longtime members of Cherry Hill's public-safety communities died this week.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Cherry Hill's public-safety communities are mourning multiple losses this week, with the deaths of two longtime members.

Retired Police Chief Brian Malloy died Monday. He served 30 the Cherry Hill Police Department for 30 years, including six as police chief before retiring in 2006. He was 73.

Jim Bird, an Air Force veteran, served the Cherry Hill Fire Department for 38 years before retiring. He died Thursday at 74.
