Will Willie Nelson Play In Camden On July 4th? Country Legend Misses Another Show

Nelson, 91, missed some shows due to illness and has not yet performed on his current tour. Will he play at his namesake 4th of July Picnic?

CAMDEN, NJ — Willie Nelson plans to perform in Camden. But the country legend missed yet another show ahead of his namesake 4th of July Picnic.

Nelson, 91, has missed every show on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour, which began June 21. Initially, he intended to miss the first few days because of an undisclosed illness.

The Red Headed Stranger was out for longer, but he recently announced that his doctors cleared him for this week's shows, including his Independence Day concert at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. However, Nelson didn't perform at Tuesday's show in Massachusetts.

Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic is one of the biggest live-music traditions on the nation's birthday. Having been held since 1973, this year's Picnic will mark the first in New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.

Bob Dylan, along with Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, are also part of the Camden concert's lineup.

Despite Nelson's absences, none of his tour stops have been canceled, as the other acts on the star-studded tour have continued to perform. Willie's son, Lukas, has been performing in his father's place.

The concert starts at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Click here for tickets.
