Would-Be Burglar Broke into Occupied Home, Police Say

Thomas W. Haas Jr. was arrested after a homeowner called officers about a break-in, police said.

A Mount Holly man who tried to burglarize an occupied home last week was caught just blocks away at the Ashland PATCO station, Cherry Hill Police said.

Thomas W. Haas Jr., of the 100 block of Risdon Street, broke into a home in the 100 block of Burnt Mill Road just after noon Friday, police said, but the owner was home and called police.

Haas had taken off for the Ashland station, the victim told police, and officers found him there a short time later, police said.

He was charged with burglary, possession of a prohibited weapon and hindering apprehension, and was taken to the Camden County Jail in lieu of bail.
