2 Cops Face Assault Charges After Fight At Burlington Co. Motel

One of the cops works for the Trenton Police Department, while the other works for the Mercer County Sherriff's Office, the official said.

BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two cops were charged with simple assault after an Aug. 20 fight at the Best Western Inn along U.S. Route 206 in Bordentown Township motel, officials said.

A third man from Pennsylvania who was also involved in the fight was charged with simple assault and harassment, officials added.

The fight between Trenton Police Officer Tara Drurkoc of New Egypt, Sheriff's Officer of Mercer County Matthew Sickler of Trenton and Christopher Lopez of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, started as the three were checking in the motel, according to officials.

When a motel clerk tried to stop the fight, Dzurkoc pulled the woman down by her hair and kicked her, officials said.

The fight was still in progress as police officers responded to the scene, according to officials.

Sickler was assigned to desk duty while the incident is being investigated, a spokesperson from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office said.

Dzurkoc has been suspended without pay from the Trenton police force, according to NJ.com.
