5th Person Charged In Fatal Shooting At Burlington County Walmart

Tarik Jenkins has been charged in connection with a shooting that killed a Hammonton teen and injured his father in a Walmart parking lot.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — A fifth person has been charged in connection with a shooting that killed a teenager and wounded his father at a Walmart in South Jersey last year, authorities announced.

Tarik Jenkins, 25 of Pemberton, is the latest person who has been charged in the fatal shooting of Albert Williams, 17 of Hammonton, that took place in the parking lot of a Walmart in Burlington Township on Oct. 7, authorities said.

Williams' father, 44-year-old Dione Williams Sr., was also injured in the shooting, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Burlington Township Public Safety Director James Sullivan. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Jenkins was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force at a home in Edgewater Park on Tuesday, according to authorities.

The Burlington County Sheriff’s Department is a member of the task force and participated in the apprehension.

Jenkins was charged with first-degree felony murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, third-degree hindering and fourth-degree obstruction.

Those previously charged in the shooting include:

  • Kayhree Simmons, 19, was charged with first-degree felony murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, third-degree hindering and fourth-degree obstruction.
  • Jayviyohn J. Earley, 19, was charged with first-degree felony murder and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery. Earley also was charged on Oct. 13, 2021, with third-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana and second-degree possession of a firearm in relation to a drug offense, based on evidence uncovered in the course of the investigation of the Walmart shooting incident.
  • Kweli L. McCants, 20, was charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and third-degree hindering. McCants also was charged on Oct. 14, 2021, with fourth-degree possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine and third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, based on evidence uncovered in the course of the investigation of the Walmart shooting incident.
  • Azza Kamnaksh, 19, was charged with third-degree hindering and fourth-degree obstruction. Kamnaksh also was charged on Oct. 13, 2021, with third-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana and second-degree possession of a firearm in relation to a drug offense, based on evidence uncovered in the course of the investigation of the Walmart shooting incident.

Authorities said that the parties had planned to meet up at the Walmart on Mount Holly Road. When they met up, an argument broke out, and it was followed by gunfire, according to authorities.

Jenkins was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly pending a detention hearing in Superior Court. The case will now be prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.
