Cinnaminson Firefighter Stole $10K From Union: Prosecutor

Tull pocketed thousands from a union representing BurlCo firefighters and also spent funds on Jersey Mike's, Rita's and Wawa, per officials.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — A Cinnaminson firefighter stole nearly $10,000 from a professional firefighters union while serving as treasurer, authorities said.

Joseph Tull Jr. was the treasurer of Burlington County Professional Firefighters Association Local 3091, which represents professional firefighters and emergency medical technicians in multiple towns, including Cinnaminson.

An investigation into Tull began in January, when union leaders reported bookkeeping irregularities to law enforcement, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

Investigators found that Tull used the union's debit card to withdraw $6,300, which he placed in his personal accounts. Tull also used the card to spend $3,384 at various businesses, including Jersey Mike's, Rita's Italian Ice and Wawa, authorities said.

Tull, 38, of Williamstown, was charged with computer criminal activity (second-degree), theft by deception (third-degree) and misapplication of entrusted property (third-degree).

He was arrested on Monday and released after being processed.

Tull is a full-time firefighter in Cinnaminson. He has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the case.

"No public funds overseen by the Cinnaminson Fire District, or donated money overseen by the fundraising committee of the Cinnaminson Fire Department are impacted by this case," said Cinnaminson Fire Chief Philip Drangula.
