'Every Option' On Table To Solve Cinnaminson Trash Trouble: Official

The municipality is one of several in Burlington and Camden counties that have reported trash collection delays this year.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson will "examine every option in dealing with" trash collector Republic Services not fulfilling the provisions of its contract, Township Administrator Eric Schubiger told Patch.

These possible courses of action include "legal remedies, partnering with other area municipalities who are also experiencing difficulties with trash collection contractors and publicly bidding the contract again in an effort to secure the lowest responsible bidder," he continued.

The comments come after Cinnaminson has previously tried to improve trash collection in the municipality via other means, such as increasing pickups of bulky items and allowing residents to drop off regular household trash at a public works site.

Through Nixle alerts, Facebook posts and other means of communication, Patch has learned of occasional or ongoing trash collection delays that occurred this summer in Moorestown, Collingswood, Cherry Hill, Edgewater Park, Maple Shade, Medford, Mount Holly and Westampton.

Most of those municipalities rely on Republic Services for their trash collection, according to these sources.

Republic Services, the company in charge of trash collection in many of these communities, has previously attributed the delays to "staffing challenges."
