Cyclist Fatally Struck By Truck: Burlington County Prosecutor

Julie Galezniak, 62, of Stratford​ died Saturday while she was riding along Sykesville Road with a group of cyclists, police said.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — A cyclist died over the weekend after she was fatally struck by a pickup truck, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office confirmed Monday.

Julie Galezniak, 62, of Stratford died Saturday shortly after 12 p.m. while she was riding along Sykesville Road with a group of cyclists, police said. She was airlifted to a Trenton hospital and pronounced dead.

According to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, the name of the driver, who remained on the scene, is being withheld at this time because no traffic summons have been issued and no criminal charges have been filed.

The investigation is being conducted by the Chesterfield Township Police Department, the Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police.

Authorities said this is the second fatality recently along the same stretch of Sykesville Road.

On Oct. 20, Mary Broderick, 71, of Chesterfield, was fatally struck by a vehicle being driven by Valentina Golya, 86, of Chesterfield, as she was walking along the road. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Golya was issued a summons for careless driving.
