Glow-In-The-Dark Tennis Event, Started In Cinnaminson, Expands

The XGLOsive Tennis Event was first held in Cinnaminson in 2019. It is expanding to four more Burlington County towns this year.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — A unique game of glow-in-the-dark tennis that began as a one-night outing in Cinnaminson has grown into a four-night tour in Burlington County.

The XGLOsive Tennis Event returns to Wood Park in Cinnaminson at 8 p.m. Monday night. Locally, it is presented by the Cinnaminson Municipal Alliance and Positive Promotions and made possible by donations from local businesses.

It is now one of four events that will be part of the Light The Night 2021 XGLO Tennis Alliance Tour, a series of fun-filled and exciting XGLOsive tennis parties for teens of all abilities.

The game adds glow-in-the-dark tennis balls, black lights, and dance music to a traditional game of tennis. This event is made possible through the generous support of several local businesses, Mayor Albert Segrest said.

Prevention Plus coordinator Joe Conlin said the events provide teens with an exciting “club-like” atmosphere free of drugs and alcohol.

“It’s a fun and exciting night out that’s substance-free,” Conlin said. “It’s one way to have fun and socialize without those pressures.”

The first event was held in August 2019. This year, the event was expanded to four nights with multiple sessions with the support of the Burlington County Municipal Alliance and the four municipalities.

“The first event in Cinnaminson was a huge success and we’re thrilled to be able to expand to Evesham, Hainesport and Mount Laurel this year so more people can experience the fun,” Conlin said. “Space is limited, but playing slots are still available in all four towns, so we’re encouraging people to register right away.”

Events will also take place Friday night in Marlton, Saturday in Hainesport and Sunday in Mount Laurel.

The events are open to kids 12 and up, but registration is strongly encouraged. The events are free, but participants should bring their own tennis racket and shoes.

Each location will hold two, one-hour skills sessions at 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
