'Kind, Generous' Marissa Shouted Out As Cinnaminson Star Student

Marissa organized a group that provides free music therapy to those with dementia and spends several hours per week singing to people.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Marissa started a charity called Seniors Sing. She organized a group that provides free music therapy to those suffering from dementia. Marissa spends several hours per week singing to people in the memory care unit. In addition, Marissa is an AP student. She is the president of the Thespian Honors Society and Captain of the Dance Team. Marissa will also be starring in the school musical Big Fish.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Marissa is kind, generous, and looks forward to a career in chemical engineering. She wants to help find a cure for dementia.
