Well-Known Seafood Shop Closing Permanently In Burlington Co.

The store, founded by the chef known as 'King of Crabcakes,' will shut down soon, as the business's other locations remain open.

DELRAN, NJ — A seafood shop from the "King of Crabcakes" is closing down.

Bobby Chez Famous Crabcakes will permanently close its Delran shop this weekend. The last day is Saturday.

The store is part of a South Jersey-based chain of specialty seafood stores founded by Robert Sliwowski — also known as Chef Bobby Chez, or, the "King of Crabcakes."

All other Bobby Chez stores will remain open.

"It’s been an amazing ride, and we’re so thankful for all the love and support!" the business said Thursday of the Delran store closing. "But don’t worry — you can still get your Bobby Chez fix at our other South Jersey spots, where we’ll be serving up your favorites with open arms (and hot crab cakes)."

In 1997, Sliwowski opened the first Bobby Chez Seafood Specialties store in Voorhees. His signature Jumbo Lump Crabcake has garnered multiple local and national awards, and the business has expanded to multiple locations in the region.

The chain now has new leadership, with Chef Dominick Leonetti, III taking the helm last year.

Bobby Chez's remaining stores in Cherry Hill, Collingswood and Sewell, as well as with Newtown, Pennsylvania.
