Littering Persists At Cinnaminson Cemetery, Resident Says

The township said it will work with the resident to find ways to solve the problem.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson Township representatives said it will work within its powers to help a resident concerned about the untidiness at Morgan Cemetery.

The township committee was asked earlier this year by Township Resident Michael Goins to revise the township code so that graveyard visitors may no longer hold picnics, play music, leave mementos and release doves.

The problem has not gone away, Goins said at the township committee's most recent meeting.

"When people come in at night, early in the morning, there's litter all over," he said.

The township solicitor said at that most recent township committee meeting that changing the township code would not be an appropriate way to solve the problem.

"They go to other issues, littering and enforcement, things of that nature, which is a private property matter for a private cemetery," said Township Solicitor Stuart A. Platt.

Platt's comments, while accurate, do not mean Goins will be on his own trying to solve the littering problem at the cemetery, according to Township Administrator Eric Schubiger.

"We're all going to look at [this] together and address them in another way," Schubiger said.
