DELRAN, NJ — A longtime ice cream shop in Burlington County will not reopen under current ownership. But it might not be the end of Castle Harbor Drive-In.

The Delran eatery has stood for generations. The restaurant typically closes a couple months per year during the winter. But on Monday, owner Jim Dapontes announced "I have decided not to re-open Castle Harbor at this time."

"I have valued each of my customers and the support you have shown Castle over the years," Dapontes said on the business's Facebook page. "It is impossible to express my gratitude for your loyal patronage."

But Castle Harbor fans shouldn't feel frozen by the news just yet. The restaurant is now for sale.

Ultimately, whoever purchases the property could take it in a new direction. But the real estate listing touts a chance to own a cherished institution.
