Longtime Restaurant's Demolition For Car Wash Proposed In Cinnaminson
SweetWater Bar & Grill closed last year, ending a 4-decade run for the family that also operated Hathaway's at the site.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — A former Cinnaminson restaurant would be demolished and replaced with a car wash under a proposal slated for a hearing in front of local officials.
A Flagship Carwash has been proposed at the site of SweetWater Bar & Grill, which permanently closed last year. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for Tuesday's Planning Board meeting.
George Kyrtatas, an acclaimed chef known for modern Greek cuisine, opened SweetWater in 2012 in the same building as his family's former diner, Hathaway's, which opened in the 1980s.

The applicant — Flagship New Jersey Propco, LLC — is seeking the Planning Board's approval to demolish the restaurant building to build a 12,882-square-foot car wash.
Flagship New Jersey Propco, Kyrtatas and other stakeholders presented plans for the car wash Aug. 4 at a Township Committee meeting.
During the presentation, real estate broker Jay Miller said Kyrtatas hired him in July 2023 — about a year before the restaurant closed — according to the meeting minutes.
Kyrtatas "stated that he feels that the proposed project is the best deal for the town," the minutes say.
The Planning Board meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Municipal Building (1621 Riverton Rd.). Here's the agenda.
