Longtime State Trooper Killed In South Jersey Crash: Police

A South Jersey man who served with the New Jersey State Police for 16 years was killed in a crash on Route 206 in Burlington County.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — A South Jersey man who served with the New Jersey State Police for 16 years was killed in a crash on Route 206 in Burlington County this week, according to authorities.

Juan Fajardo, 41, of Columbus, was killed in a two-car crash on Route 206 in the area of the Mansfield Square shopping center in Mansfield Township Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Fajardo was riding a Ducati motorcycle when he collided with a Ford Transit van, according to Mansfield Township police. Fajardo received treatment on the scene, but succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The driver of the Ford Transit was evaluated on the scene, and refused further treatment, police said. No charges have been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

Fajardo was a member of the 139th State Police Class, according to New Jersey State Police. He also served two tours with New Jersey’s Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged in 2003, but returned to service in 2019. He is survived by his wife and three children.

“The entire New Jersey State Police family and extended law enforcement community extends our deepest sympathy and commitment of support to the Fajardo family during this difficult time,” New Jersey State Police said in a statement.
