Palmyra Woman Really Didn't Want to Give Up Her Beer: Police

A Palmyra woman didn’t take kindly when police officers tried to confiscate her beer recently.

Two Palmyra police officers were on foot patrol just before 11 p.m. Sept. 28 near Race and West Sixth streets when they noticed a woman—Rosalind Moczulski, 47—walking on the sidewalk holding an open can of beer, according to a report. They instructed her numerous times to stop, but she ignored the officers and tried to duck into a fenced-in yard on the block.

The officers caught up to Moczulski and detained her in order to cite for her violating the borough’s open container ordinance. However, police said, she refused to cooperate and began yelling obscenities, loud enough for neighbors to hear, several of whom began to congregate nearby to see what was going on.

Police said they advised Moczulski several times to calm down, but she continued to pull away from officers and curse. The officers ultimately had to restrain her on the ground and place her under arrest for being disorderly.

Moczulski was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction and resisting arrest, and was also cited for having an open container of alcohol in public. She was able to post bail and was released, pending a court hearing.
