A Williamstown man ended up in prison after he tried to satisfy his sweet tooth by shoplifting candy, Palmyra Police said.Police were dispatched to Wawa just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of an attempted shoplifting. Store employees told police the suspect—later identified as David Arrington Jr., 33—had tried to conceal, in a plastic bag, several king-sized Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, but turned them over when he was confronted, according to a report.Officers located Arrington on the Light Rail platform and said he gave false information when they tried to determine his identity. He was ultimately arrested once police discovered his true identity. Police said he was also in possession of a stolen credit card.Arrington was charged with shoplifting, hindering apprehension and receiving stolen property. Police said Arrington also had seven outstanding warrants for his arrest from several towns, including a $43,923 warrant from the Gloucester County Sheriff's Department for a child support violation.He was lodged in Burlington County Jail pending a court hearing.Information provided by Palmyra Police.
