Trio of Burglars Caught in Act, One Escapes: Police

A pair of Pennsylvania men were arrested—while a third escaped—after they were caught robbing a wholesaler’s trailer in Palmyra earlier this week, according to police.

Palmyra Police said an officer was on patrol just after 11 p.m. Sunday when he spotted a suspicious vehicle stopped on the shoulder of Route 73 South, near R & S Wholesale. When the officer approached, he noticed three men loading items from a trailer into their vehicle. Two of three immediately took off, and a third—later identified as Gregory Cujdik, 36, of Hazleton—was immediately taken into custody.

Responding officers searched for the other two suspects, using a K-9 to aid in the search. Police eventually located John Ploucher, 36, of Philadelphia, as he was crossing the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge on foot and arrested him, according to a report. The third suspect was not found.

After a thorough investigation, police determined the three men had broken into the trailer, belonging to R & S Wholesale, and were stealing items stored inside, according to the report.

Cujdik was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief and lodged in Burlington County Jail on $12,500 bail. Ploucher was also charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief, as well as resisting arrest, and sent to Burlington County Jail on $17,500 bail.
