Garwood Library Hosts Brown Bag Lunch Packing Event For Homeless

The library will be donating the sustainable lunches to Bridges Outreach, a local organization that helps end homelessness.

GARWOOD, NJ — For the first three Mondays in August, Garwood Library is hosting brown bag lunch-making events for homeless families.

The library is packing the sustainable lunches for Bridges Outreach — a local service organization that helps end homelessness through volunteer-driven outreach and individual case management, focusing on health, housing and independence.

The family-friendly activity is limited to 15 participants of all ages.

According to the library, participants will decorate the brown bags with drawings and inspirational words and park them with sustainable lunch items.

Jill Pall, the communications director at Bridges, said these lunches will be distributed during the organization's Outreach and Engagement activities to form relationships and create trust between people experiencing homelessness. Pall said the goal is to find people permanent housing.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Monday. Garwood Library is located at 411 3rd Ave.
