Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Children In Union Co. Arrested: Prosecutors

The 35-year-old was charged with sexually assaulting three children and one adult, according to Union County prosecutors.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — A Linden man was arrested in connection with several sexual assault incidents, involving three children and an adult, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Linden Police Chief David Hart announced Thursday.

Johan A. Osorno, 35, was charged with several counts of sexual assault, with incidents tracing back to 2018, according to prosecutors.

In late June, the Linden Police Department was notified of the sexual assault of one man and one female minor. During the course of an investigation with the Special Victims Unit, police learned that there were an additional two victims.

The first was a woman who said she was molested as a minor between 2018 and 2020, according to Assistant Prosecutor Bryan Tiscia. An additional woman, who as an adult at the time, reported that she was abused by Osorno, Tiscia said.

Osorno was arrested without incident on June 27 and was sent to Essex County Jail. After a pretrial detention hearing in Union County Superior Court, he was ordered to be detained pending the next trial.

He was ultimately charged with one count of of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and one count of fourth-degree attempted criminal sexual contact.

According to prosecutors, convictions on second-degree charges are commonly punishable by between five and 10 years in state prison. Third-degree criminal charges range from between three to five years in state prison and fourth-degree convictions a period of up to 18 months.
