Plane Catches Fire, Pilot Severely Burned At Linden Airport: Police
A small plane was engulfed in flames at the airport in Union County on Sunday, police said. Only one person was injured from the fire.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — A small plane at Linden Municipal Airport caught fire on Sunday while taxiing on the ground, according to an announcement from Linden Police Department.
First responders located the 2003 single engine aircraft engulfed in flames on the taxiway at around 3:25 p.m., Linden Police said. The sole occupant of the plane, a 40-year-old pilot and Brooklyn, New York resident, was found with serious burns to his arms and lower extremities, according to police.
Linden Fire Department personnel quickly extinguished the fire upon arrival. The pilot exited the plane before emergency crews arrived, police said.

The pilot was then rushed to St. Barnabas Burn Center, according to police.
The incident remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, New Jersey State Fire Marshall's Office, Union County Arson Investigation Team, Union County Hazmat and Linden Fire Department.
