Car Drives Into Newton Lake, Person Removed on Stretcher

A car drove into Newton Lake this morning, sending at least one person away on a stretcher.

The car was discovered around 9:30 a.m. and had entered the lake across from the . Although is a county jurisdiction, arrived on the scene quickly and remained on hand to assist in the rescue operation. 

One person was taken from the scene on a stretcher, but authorities would not immediately comment on the person's condition. Reports indicated the person needed CPR, but authorities would not confirm this.

Crews are pulling the car from the lake at this hour (10:30 a.m.)
