VIEWFINDER: Panthers Season Ends Early, Bengals Advance

Barnegat felled Collingswood 5-1 Tuesday to earn its first varsity baseball playoff victory in school history.

Monday's rain delay turned out only to be a stay of execution for Panthers baseball, as the trip to fifth-seeded Barnegat yielded an early exit from the playoffs.

Feeding off the home cooking, the Bengals jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. After a scoreless second, Barnegat tacked on another two runs in the third for a total of five unanswered.

Alex Irwin rounded the bases in the seventh for the lone Panther score.
