The Speculative Reader : Science Fiction, Fantasy and More

“Stories of Your Life and Others” by Ted Chiang

This collection of short stories presents characters who must confront sudden change—the inevitable rise of automatons or the appearance of aliens—while striving to maintain some sense of normalcy. We will be reading “Story of Your Life” from this collection and discussing book selections for spring and summer.

Read the classic and controversial novel about young Holden Caulfield’s disillusionment with the adult world and its “phoniness.”

“Fake Mustache” by Tom Angleberger

What would you do if your best friend was an evil genius planning to take over the world? That’s Lenny’s problem! His friend Casper has purchased a Heidelberg Handlebar #7 mustache, and when he wears it, he is invincible! A free copy of the book is available at the circulation desk when you register. Snacks will be served.

Hula in the Coola

Hula in the Coola Day is a day for those longing to escape the winter doldrums to laugh at the cold with a luau party. Put away your winter coats, get out your shorts and flip flops, and say “Aloha”. Join us for crafts and fun!

A Visit from Snow White

This Jan., Princess Snow White will visit all eight branches of the

Camden County Library System. Come and listen to her magical stories and songs.

Anime and Manga Club

Ages 12 and up

Thursday, Jan. 9, 3:30 - 6 p.m.

Watch and discuss anime series and practice drawing manga with a professional manga artist. The group will also work on creating manga pages. Drop in if you can’t make the whole session.

Stop Motion Animation Workshop

Ages 12 and up

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 6 - 8 p.m.

Using flexible figures and other objects, create a film using stop motion techniques. Bring flexible action figures or Barbies to experiment with as time permits.

Teen Book Chat: Dinner and Discussion

“Thirteen Reasons Why” by Jay Asher
