Panthers Baseball Edges Gateway in Final Contest of 2012

Morris Smith earned his first win of the season and Chris Michael hammered out his 100th career hit as the boys baseball team ended the season with a victory.

Jumping out to a five-run lead in the early going against Gateway gave Morris Smith enough of a cushion to notch his first win of the season Tuesday, as the Panthers baseball team closed out 2012 on a high note.

The Panthers Chris Michael achieved a personal milestone in the contest, recording the 100th hit of his high school career on an 0-2 double to lead off the sixth. Michael also walked, singled, and scored three runs.

Although the Gators pulled within two in the top of the seventh inning, Lucas Rollins put out the fire to earn a save.
