Potluck Dinner, Peach Pie Contest

Plus, Alex Capasso opens his new restaurant, Benny's Burger Joint.

It's not a packed calendar of events in Collingswood this week, but what the itinerary lacks in number, it makes up in quality.

At 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, Chef Alex Capassio opens the doors of his new combination arcade and restaurant, Benny's Burger Joint, which will occupy the spaces formerly occupied by Blackbird and West Side Gravy. Initially, the shop will only serve dinner, but will expand to lunch service August 6, and brunch service August 16.

Then at 6:30 p.m., you can join Food & Water Watch at the Collingswood library for a potluck dinner, as the group brainstorms ways to enhance its homegrown anti-fracking movement.

On Friday, August 2, Jenny & Me performs at Fridays Live at Grooveground Coffee Bar. Stop by at 8:30 p.m. and enjoy some free live entertainment.

Then close out your week with the annual Collingswood Farmers Market peace pie contest on Saturday, August 3.

"The pie contest is part of the Market’s larger Peach Party" market day, according to the borough, and will kick off a "Just Peachy restaurant week" August 6, 7 and 8.
