Tractor-Trailer Topples Traffic Signal, Taylor Ave. Signage, Takes Off

Police believe the same as-yet-unidentified motorist that felled the signal at Collings Avenue Saturday may be responsible for mangling another street sign later that night.

After allegedly knocking down a traffic signal at the intersection of Collings Avenue and the White Horse Pike Saturday night, police believe the same motorist collided with a nearby utility pole and street sign before heading out of town in the direction of Route 130.

Only minutes after emergency crews responded to the scene of the first incident, reports came in from a few blocks away of a dark-colored tractor trailer colliding with a utility pole on Magill Avenue and mangling a street sign at the intersection of Taylor and Collings.

Despite a driving rain, overnight crews were able to replace the signal by morning, and the flow of traffic was barely interrupted.
