
The Cranford baseball team is in defense of its Group 3 title and is one step closer after defeating Paramus in the semifinal on Tuesday.
The Cougars, ranked No. 2 in The Star Ledger’s Top 20, won 12-7 against the Paramus team in the semifinal round of the Group 3 semifinals of the NJSIAA Tournament.
Cranford started off strong with three runs in the first inning and picked up momentum with another five runs in the third inning, according to NJ.com statistics. The team then scored two more runs in the fourth inning and an additional one run in both the fifth and sixth innings to close out the win with 12 runs.
Players Andrew DiFrancesco, Sean Feeney, Chris Folinusz, Albert Gargulio, Matt Ravitier and Tommy Trotter each scored two runs for the Cougars, according to the stats.
Pitcher Ryan Williamson struck out six and walked one, NJ.com stats reflect.
Cranford will face Burlington Township in the Group 3 final round Saturday in Toms River.
