County Champs Advance to Second Round in States
Cranford baseball team picks up 20th win of the season with first-round victory over Rahway.

The Cranford baseball team has already been crowned Union County Champions, but this Monday the baseball team won its 20th game in the first round of the NJSIAA tournament against Rahway.
The Cougars defeated Rahway 7-0 Monday and will move onto the next round to play Summit, who defeated Nutley Friday at 4 p.m.
According to NJ.com, Cranford Pitcher Matt Raviter allowed a hit with three strikeouts and no walks in the first four innings of Monday’s game. Other pitchers included, John Armstrong, Matthew DiMartino and George Georgeadis.
Cougar Ryan Williamson went 2 for 3 for the team on Monday with a double and three RBIs, NJ.com reported.
Cranford, once No. 1 on The Star-Ledger’s Top 20, is now ranked No. 3.
Cranford is part of the North Jersey Section 1, Group 3, which has the following teams moving onto the next round: Summit, West Morris, Mendham, Roxbury, JFK, Gov. Livingston and South Plainfield.
