Cranford Native Named to Landmark Baseball Conference First-Team

Michael Gaeta, a senior at the University of Scranton, was one of three outfielders selected for the honor.

 

Michael Gaeta of Cranford was one of three outfielders selected to the First Team. Gaeta hit .344 in conference play with 13 RBI. Gaeta earned first-team honors after being a second-team selection last season. He started 41 games, hitting .284 and tying for the team lead in both runs (31) and RBIs (26). He also had eight doubles, two triples, five stolen bases, 19 walks and a team-high 11 times hit by pitch.

In the field, Gaeta made just one error in 69 chances for a .986 fielding percentage while playing center field most of the season. Gaeta also picked up his 100th career hit this season.

The Royals finished the season 23-20 after reaching the Landmark Conference championship for the third time in six seasons. The 23 wins marked their third straight season of 20 or more victories, the first time that’s been accomplished in school history.
