Cranford Schools Will Have Delayed Opening Due To Winter Forecast

The forecast into Friday shows freezing rain mixed with sleet, and NWS warns of icy roads. Cranford kids will have a delayed opening Friday.

CRANFORD, NJ — Superintendent Dr. Scott Rubin announced Thursday afternoon that Cranford Public Schools will have a delayed opening on Friday.

Due to the impending wintery weather forecast and the potential for slippery roads, the district will operate on a delayed opening schedule. Individual start times are posted on the district website.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory in Cranford, and Union County, from Thursday at 10 p.m. until 1 p.m. Friday. A mix of freezing rain and sleet is expected with ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch.

NWS predicts one to two inches of sleet to accumulate on the roads.
