Green Drinks

Those interested in environmental issues are invited to attend Green Drinks, a networking and speaking engagement at the Garlic Rose on Wednesday. Attendees can expect fun, contacts, alcohol (or not), info,
inspiration, business and pleasure.

Guest speaker Fred Profeta serves as Chair of the state-wide Mayors' Committee for a Green Future, a standing committee of the New Jersey League of Municipalities. During his tenure, the Mayors' Committee has partnered with Rutgers and the College of New Jersey to produce Sustainable Jersey (www.sustainablejersey.com), a municipal certification program for environmental achievement.

Profeta speaks widely around the State to promote Sustainable Jersey. In part because of these efforts, Maplewood received the "Leadership Award" from Sustainable Jersey at the November 2009 Conference of the League of Municipalities.

Maplewood is one of 34 communities in the state that have been certified as "sustainable."
