The Cranford Historical Society will host William B. Styple, editor of "Tell Me of Lincoln: Memories of Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War & Life in Old New York" at a book discussion and signing on February 28.
In notes compiled early last century by artist and interviewer James E. Kelly and discovered by this noted author and Civil War historian, a different side of Abraham Lincoln has emerged from those who knew him well and witnessed historic moments in his life and presidency. The book includes a chapter about Cranford's own Judge Wesley R. Batchelder of Holly Street, who was present at Ford's Theatre the night President Lincoln was assassinated.
Admission is free and all are welcome. For more information, call the Society's office at 908-276-0082, or visit William Styple's website at www.bellegrovepublishing.com.
