Local Artist to Talk Digital Photography
This workshop is part of the Cranford Historical Society's "Meet the Local Artist" series.
A local artist whose works can be seen in Simply…, an art, framing and gifts gallery in downtown Cranford, will discuss her photographs and provide digital photography tips on Sunday.
As part of the Cranford Historical Society's "Meet the Local Artist" program, Miriam Jarney will present “Fine Art Photography in the Digital Age” from 2-4 p.m. at the Crane-Phillips House Museum on North Union Avenue. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Digital Photography is the realization of a photographer’s dream. It is a new way to capture images and provides new, very powerful techniques to manipulate them. Jarney will discuss the new dimension brought about by this form of photography. She will discuss a few of the digital tools that are available to enhance the photographer’s art in a way that was never possible before.

Jarney graduated from Stevens Tech with a degree in Computer Science and had a long career in the software field. She was always an avid photographer striving to capture the beauty of creation surrounding her. When she retired, she enrolled in the New York Photography Institute. She wanted to “dedicate herself full time to creating images that represent how she feels about the fascinating scenes that she sees around her; their colors, their textures and the moods they evoke.”
Miriam Jarney has had exhibits at the Union County Administration Building in Elizabeth, Simply…, and at the Cranford Library. Her work can also be viewed at Galleria West in Westfield and Designers Gallery in Clark
