CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford residents may recognize a familiar face on Netflix's new show "The Mole" — a reality competition where a dozen strangers compete to earn money in a jackpot that only one will take home. The catch is: one of them is actively working to sabotage the rest.

The show, which will premier on Oct. 7, will feature Cranford High School graduate, class of 2008, Greg Shapiro. Now working in Seattle as a marketing consultant, the 32-year-old graduated at the top of his class both in high school and college, according to his contestant profile.

Shapiro proudly proclaims that he was raised by strong Jewish parents and is a "free-spirited adventure seeker" who is used to surviving in foreign environments. He's also traveled to over 40 countries and backpacked all over the world.

Hosted by Alex Wagner, this reality competition was broadcast originally in the U.S. in 2001 before heading to Netflix 21 years later for a rebooted version.

"Now, 12 new players compete in physical and mental challenges in order to add money to their pot of prize money — only one of them is a traitor," the Netflix summary states. "The rest must uncover which of their peers is actually sabotaging them from the inside — and which are trying to cast suspicion on themselves in order to steer people in the wrong direction and take the jackpot for themselves."

Shapiro's main strategy, according to his profile, is not discussing his suspicions with anyone, but still somehow form partnerships to influence group opinions and decision-making.

Shapiro says that his job in marketing has taught him how to read people well, as he "spends his days figuring out if they're lying." He is confident that he'll be able to gain people's trust and use that to his advantage to take it to the end, according to his profile.

In terms of strengths and weaknesses, Shapiro said, "My strengths are being bold, decisive and extremely observant. My weaknesses are that I can be lazy, reactive and ego-driven.”

He also said he's a "really bad liar" but a decent truth manipulator.
