New Assistant Principal Appointed To Cranford's Hillside Avenue School

She began her academic career nearly 30 years ago.

CRANFORD, NJ — A new assistant principal will join the staff of Hillside Avenue School next year.

The Board of Education named Jamie Geltzeiler as successor to Nicole Vaccaro who is taking over as Principal effective Jan. 1, 2026.

The selection committee said Geltzeiler was chosen following a comprehensive search and multiple interviews, coupled with "an extensive reference review."

She joins Cranford following a long career involving many roles within the Livingston School District, most recently working on the middle school level. After joining Livingston in 1998, Geltzeiler has taught at nearly every elementary school level and 7th and 8th Grade inclusion and replacement ELA.

She said she is most proud of the relationships over time she has built and the leadership opportunities that were provided to students.

Geltzeiler graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from the University of Delaware. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in reading as a reading specialist and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University.

Geltzeiler will assume her new role effective Feb. 9, 2026.
